Former staff member of The Huddle and emerging multicultural leader in the Melbourne community, Nasteha Mohamud, has been inducted into the Victorian Multicultural Honour Roll.
Nasteha Mohamud is a name well-recognised in the community across Melbourne and Wyndham from her amazing work in her time at The Huddle as the Program Manager – Social Cohesion and now in her role as Neighbourhood Partner at the City of Melbourne.
“I have been grateful and fortunate to be able to work with diverse communities every day. The past two years have been tough but it has been amazing to see the resilience of our communities as we navigated the complexities of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Mohamud.
Mohamud has recently been rewarded for her efforts by being inducted into the Victorian Multicultural Honour Roll. The Multicultural Honour Roll focuses on recognising unsung heroes who work at the grassroots level.
Mohamud has worked tirelessly over the past few years assisting and building trust with women, children and families through some truly tough times during the COVID-19 pandemic and tower lockdowns across North Melbourne and Flemington. Throughout the past two years, Nasteha has played a critical role in getting word out and promoting the vaccine to members of the African-Australian community, organising and facilitating in-language webinars, setting up culturally safe vaccination hubs and project managing youth-led vaccine promotion campaigns.
“As people navigated the complexity of the global COVID pandemic, building and maintaining trust with young people, their families and our communities has been our highest priority. Nasteha has been instrumental in supporting members of the community to feel heard and empowered to keep their loved ones safe and getting back to doing the things they love,” stated CEO of The Huddle, Cam McLeod.
Please join us in celebrating and recognising the efforts of her work, which have made exceptional and lasting contributions to multiculturalism and communities across Victoria.
